What homemade goods do you sell?
At Spellbound Spreads, we offer a delightful variety of homemade jellies, jams, salsa, sauces, pickles, relishes, fruit compotes and butters, and syrups. Many ingredients are homegrown by our proprietor; anything not home grown is selected from high quality and fresh ingredients.
Where do you sell your products?
We sell and deliver in person and we also sell at some farmer’s markets and festivals. We are a small home-based business. If you’d like to purchase any of our products, please take a look at our shop!
Do you sell your goods online?
We advertise our products online and you can submit orders requests through our shop (the sales platform will send your order in without asking for payment). All products must be paid for and delivered in person. This is for a number of reasons, including making sure we get your order to you intact and can get it inspected before it arrives.
How do I receive your goods?
If you’re not picking up your items from a farmer’s market or a stall sale, I will deliver in person within a 30 minute radius. For an order of $30 or more, I will deliver up to an hour away. Delivery is free. If you live outside an hour radius from Norfolk, VA, please contact us in order to arrange a special pickup/delivery. A delivery charge may apply. All goods will have the seals inspected prior to delivery to ensure they remain intact.
Do you ship your products?
We cannot ship our products. If you are interested in some of our products but live far away, please contact us here and we can see if we can arrange a delivery.
Do you provide gift wrapping or gift baskets?
Absolutely! I can wrap gifts in a box with wrapping paper for $5 or put together a custom gift basket for an additional fee. We can even add cheese, crackers, baking mixes, or other items to the gift basket. Please see our shop for more details and some examples of baskets we can create.
Can I return or exchange a product?
Because of the nature of our product, they cannot be returned. If you are dissatisfied for any reason, please contact us and we can come to a resolution. For more information on our refund and return policy, click here.
What is the difference between a jelly, a jam, a marmalade, and preserves?
Jellies are made with juices only and have a more smooth consistency.
A jam is made from whole or cut up fruit and therefore contains its pulp. These are usually softer.
Marmalade: These are made with the juice, pulp, and peel of a fruit. They are by nature chunkier. Usually marmalades contain some citrus
Preserves are whole or sliced fruits in syrups. The fruit pieces are larger than in jams and therefore makes it chunkier. Also they tend to be less sweet than jams.
Why do you not have grape jelly?
Because we wanted to do something a little different! Grape jelly is a pretty common and easy to find. Some of the most special things that are found at Spellbound Spreads are those that are unique.
Why do some of your jams and salsas taste a little different when I got the same flavor?
Because everything is home cooked by batch, there is some natural variation in flavor even if the same recipe is used. It’s the same thing for any home cooked meal at home. Usually it’ll taste the same, but there may be some slight variations from batch to batch.
Do some of your jams have alcohol in them?
Yes, I do use alcohol to make some of my products. Most do not have alcohol. All items made with alcohol are clearly marked in the name of the product and its description, including the ingredients list. At the temperatures required to make jam, all of the alcohol in the jam should have cooked off, leaving behind the flavor only (the boiling point of drinking alcohol is 173.1°F; the set point for jams to solidify is 220°F or greater). However, I do not test the alcohol content of the product, so please be advised if you have a condition in which drinking alcohol should be avoided. Additionally, I will not sell these products to someone underage.
You can make a custom jam?
I can! I can help you design a custom jam with your some of your favorite flavors! There are some flavor combinations that just won’t work for safety reasons, but many others we can make. Please see the custom jam page for further details.
How do you support veterans and charities?
We donate one dollar from each jar sold to charities supporting veterans. Our proprietor passionately believes strongly in giving back to those who served our country. The charities we have chosen to honor with our business are as follows. The donation will be split evenly between both.
